The NICEIC is an independent regulatory body that ensures safe procedures for electrical installation in the UK. It maintains and publishes registers of electricians and electrical contractors that have been assessed against requirements, including the IEE Wiring Regulations (national electrical safety standard BS 7671).
Registered Electricians
The NICEIC maintains the Roll of Approved Contractors and the Register of
Domestic Installers. Since 2005, registered Domestic Installers have been
authorised to self-certify their domestic electrical work as compliant with
Part P of the Building Regulations for England and Wales.
Electricians and Building Regulations Part P - Electrical Safety
NICEIC's Domestic Installer Scheme is designed to enable
registered electricians to work under the Building Regulations Part P -
Electrical Safety. The scheme is open to any electrician or electrical
contracting organisation undertaking electrical work as an integral part of
their main business, providing they can show their competence to perform
electrical work in accordance with Part P of the Building Regulations.
