The NICEIC is an independent regulatory body that ensures safe procedures for electrical installation in the UK. It maintains and publishes registers of electricians and electrical contractors that have been assessed against requirements, including the IEE Wiring Regulations (national electrical safety standard BS 7671).
The NICEIC maintains the Roll of Approved Contractors and the Register of Domestic Installers. Since 2005, registered Domestic Installers have been authorised to self-certify their domestic electrical work as compliant with Part P of the Building Regulations for England and Wales.
Electricians and Building Regulations Part P - Electrical Safety
NICEIC's Domestic Installer Scheme is designed to enable registered electricians to work under the Building Regulations Part P - Electrical Safety. The scheme is open to any electrician or electrical contracting organisation undertaking electrical work as an integral part of their main business, providing they can show their competence to perform electrical work in accordance with Part P of the Building Regulations.
